When we feel like achieving a lot in quick time and feel that 24 hours a day are not enough, than this story gets its relevance.
A professor of Philosophy came in to his class and told his students that he is going to teach them a very important lesson of life today...
He kept a glass Jar on table and started putting Tennis balls in it. He continued to do so till there was no place in Jar for balls. He asked his students “Is the jar full?” Students promptly replied- Yes. Now professor started putting small stones in to the jar. On shaking jar a lot of stones occupied empty space between balls. Professor again asked his students “Is the jar full?” Students once again replied “Yes”. This time professor took out sand from a bag and started filling Jar with it. Sand also occupied empty space in jar. Students started laughing at their innocence. Again the professor asked” Is the jar full now?” All replied in one voice “Yes now it is completely filled”. Professor now took out two cup of tea and poured it in to the jar. Tea also settled between sand.
Professor started explaining- Think this Jar as your life, tennis balls are most important part of your life such as God, your family, kids, friends, health etc, small stones means your job, car, house etc, sand is even smaller things like jealousy, fights etc. Now if you would have filled jar with sand first than there have been no place for small stones and tennis balls or if you have filled it with stones first even than there would have been no place for tennis balls though sand would have come. The same thing applies to your life- If you will be behind small issues and waste your energy on them, there will be no time left for bigger and important things in life. What is important for your life, it’s on you to decide. Play with kids, water plants, go on walk with family,.... Students were listening carefully, suddenly one of them asked “Sir, you did not tell about two cup tea”. Professor smiled and told, I was wondering why no one asked this question till now! Answer is- No matter how complete and perfect life looks to us, we must keeps a scope of drinking two cups of tea with our close friends!
