"The Chicken Little- Sky Is Falling"

Life is strange. We all are afraid of taking chances or trying new things. But in the end we will repent chances not taken more than chances taken. I firmly believe trying is far better than discarding new things.  Some people will always be skeptical, in our best interest we should avid listening to them.

We all have heard story of " The Chicken little- sky is falling" in some point of life (those who have not heard, please click on "read more" in the end of article to see this story).  Be aware of chicken little.  They are all around even inside each one of us.  They will see "sky falling" in each event! All of us have doubts.  "If it's such a good idea, how come others have not done it before?" Or " This will never work." Or "What made you think you can do it" etc. Often these words of doubt become so loud that we fail to act and opportunities pass by us. We all have felt this in life, some more than others.

Don't let "Chicken Little" inside you or around you force you in to inaction. Remember on your deathbed, it will not be all the risks you took that you will regret the most. Rather, what will fill your heart with greatest amount of regret and sadness will be all those risks that you did not take, all those opportunities you did not seize and all those fears you did not face.

My Suggestion- When you find "Chicken Little" troubling you, just fry it!

The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. It is now a scientific fact. Physics has shown that the principles involved in the Law of Attraction are as valid as those governing the Law of Gravity. So it should come as no surprise that dwelling only on your problems simply attracts more problems.

Thoughts are energy, they are real. Our thoughts act as magnets and attract other thoughts, people, and circumstances that harmonize with them.

The idea of attracting success by thinking about it is very appealing. So appealing in fact, people often get the wrong impression that it's easy. Affirmations can be helpful, but mindless affirmations alone have no real value. On the other hand, once an affirmation becomes part of your belief system the subconscious goes to work attracting opportunities. It is not the success itself we attract, but the opportunity to succeed.

Our world is ruled by cause and effect, yet we often fail to see how this rule applies to the thoughts we think. This happens because the results of our thoughts are so far removed from the cause that we fail to see the connection.

The subconscious mind is working tirelessly 24 hours a day. It doesn't analyze, it doesn't judge, it simply accepts and attracts more of what the conscious mind is focused on. Are you attracting problems or solutions? By focusing on desire and showing gratitude for what you already have, the subconscious mind is given the necessary material to provide a constant stream of opportunities. Whether we take advantage of these opportunities or not is another story.

Resentment- Means re-feel, re-feel.. and re-feel.

It happens with all of us at one point or other.  Someone wrongs or wounds us and we get in to resentment.  In resenting, we re-feel the injury. And re-hurt ourself.  The more we resent, more we get hurt.  A person who bears grudge is 'like one who, having cut one hand while handling a knife, avenges himself by stabbing the other hand.'

The best way to avoid this self inflicting suffering is to apply 'spiritual iodine' the moment anybody hurts you!  Get your resentment healed at once, before it starts further hurting you!

Here is a old but good solution-  Think no evil about anyone.  Put the best possible construction upon every one's actions.  Send out a kindly thought towards any person antagonistic to you. Think hopefully at all times.  See only the best happening.

Avoid resentment, remember it's like touching your wound over and over again.  It causes more loss to you than to other person.

Don't Focus On Failure

Internal defeat is a mindset, where you begin to believe that most new ideas will fail.  This happens when we put too much focus on 'failure'.  Unknowingly, this becomes part of our personality. Don't let this happen to you, else you will start doubting all possibilities of success.

We will always learn from mistakes when we see them clearly as a test, examine the results, and study them closely for the reason why they went wrong.

Whether it is a plan, relationship, project, or trying anything new, it is better to make mistakes than do nothing at all.

Some of the most successful persons, I know, deal with mistakes as part of the learning. They turn all of their defeats into learning experiences. This is extremely powerful when you consider the cost of learning anything of value.

After all, what did you spend on your education, so far? Did you think you would stop learning at a certain point in life? Did you learn from your past mistakes? Of course you did, and now you are stronger due to the corrective adjustments, you have made.

When a child learns to ride a bicycle, there are plenty of falls along the way, and then the falling stops. However, even skilled adults fall off bicycles, sometimes.

So, don't take past failures personally. Put them behind you and learn from each one.

Henry Ford and the Wright Brothers had failures, but nobody seems to remember that. Just like them, you are not a failure, but you may have failed in the past, just like they did. When you get down on yourself, look back at what you have accomplished.

When you take on your next project, do the research first, make a full commitment to succeed, and never mentally quit before you start.

Lastly, whenever it is possible, learn from the mistakes of others. To save money and time by avoiding known mistakes, pitfalls, and traps.

A Glass Jar and Two Cup Tea

When we feel like achieving a lot in quick time and feel that 24 hours a day are not enough, than this story gets its relevance.

A professor of Philosophy came in to his class and told his students that he is going to teach them a very important lesson of life today...

He kept a glass Jar on table and started putting Tennis balls in it.  He continued to do so till there was no place in Jar for balls.  He asked his students “Is the jar full?”  Students promptly replied- Yes.  Now professor started putting small stones in to the jar.  On shaking jar a lot of stones occupied empty space between balls. Professor again asked his students “Is the jar full?”  Students once again replied “Yes”.  This time professor took out sand from a bag and started filling Jar with it.  Sand also occupied empty space in jar. Students started laughing at their innocence. Again the professor asked” Is the jar full now?”  All replied in one voice “Yes now it is completely filled”.  Professor now took out two cup of tea and poured it in to the jar.  Tea also settled between sand.
Professor started explaining- Think this Jar as your life, tennis balls are most important part of your life such as God, your family, kids, friends, health etc, small stones means your job, car, house etc, sand is even smaller things like jealousy, fights etc.  Now if you would have filled jar with sand first than there have been no place for small stones and tennis balls or if you have filled it with stones first even than there would have been no place for tennis balls though sand would have come.  The same thing applies to your life-  If you will be behind small issues and waste your energy on them, there will be no time left for bigger and important things in life.  What is important for your life, it’s on you to decide. Play with kids, water plants, go on walk with family,....  Students were listening carefully, suddenly one of them asked “Sir, you did not tell about two cup tea”.  Professor smiled and told, I was wondering why no one asked this question till now!  Answer is- No matter how complete and perfect life looks to us, we must keeps a scope of drinking two cups of tea with our close friends!

Don't be an if thinker, Be a how thinker

This is the key phrase to failure- "if only". Every time we fail, we utter "if only". If only this had not happened! if only I had done differently. If only he helped me. If only....if only and so on. We are in habit of putting too much mental concentration on "if ....". This if thinking attitude drains out our energy even before starting.

To succeed, we need to become "How thinker" instead of being "if thinker". A "how thinker" will emphasizes the hows: 'How to overcome this problem?' or 'How to compensate for this shortcoming?' or 'How do I accomplish it?' This "How Thinking" attitude fills him with energy and helps him in overcoming most of obstacles. Just replace this "if thinking" with "how thinking" and see results for yourself. Next time you fail, instead of using "if .." try using "how.."! Good luck.

Be Yourself!

It has become one of the toughest task in today's world, "Being self"!  Today we find ourself trying to match ourself with the standards of society, standards of our parents or even at time standards set by us. We all are being dishonest in this way. Being a slave to conformity is one of the most fundamental of all dishonesties.

When we reject our specialness, forget our god-given individuality and uniqueness, we begin to lose our freedom. By becoming conformist, we lose our freedom and start becoming herd follower.  We need to show more strength, courage and character, so that we do not meekly conform to standardized ways of behaving, we need to be 'different'.

Men and women who accomplish great tasks in this world are almost always 'characters' in the sense that they are not afraid of themselves regardless of what fashion or in attitude dictates.  They dare to be 'different'.

So start respecting individuality, "Be yourself". You will feel more freedom and at peace. Also you will have greater chance of success in whatever you attempt.   Remember you are the unique piece of work of the creator, no one else is like you!  So by "being yourself", you are paying gratitude to the Creator!

Nailing The Fence

This is the story of a boy who had bad temper.  One day his father gave him a bag full of nails and a hammer. He asked his son to drive a nail in his room's wall every time he lost his temper. The boy did the same.  Soon he started realising that he was losing his temper too often.  He started controlling his temper.

When he was able to control his temper,  he approached his father and said "Father now I can control my temper". His father replied OK Son! now take out one nail every time you  are able to control your temper.  Boy did the same. Soon all nails were out.  Boy again approached his father with the news.  This time his father took hold of his hand and took him to his room.

The wall was full of small holes.  Father said "look son, no matter how hard you try, The wall will never be the same again."

"We often make scare marks by our words and try to make for them afterwards.  No matter how hard we try, scare marks will remain there."

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
when the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but do not quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit—
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Life Is Too Short To Waste Time Hating Anyone

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert during some point of the Journey they had an argument, and one friend Slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without
saying anything, wrote in the sand:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE .
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning,
he wrote on a stone:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?"
The other friend replied
"When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS
IN THE SAND
AND
TO CARVE YOUR
BLESSINGS IN STONE!!!

Break Rules- To Progress!

Strange! Ya, I often talk or write in strange way. But in the end, I'm sure it shall make sense to you. I'm talking about "Break Rules", It's not about breaking rules of society or breaking rules of traffic! My focus is on second part of phrase "To Progress". Now look for the rules which you need to break in order to progress. A real progress can not be achieve by breaking rules of society or by actions which result in harming somebody. So what is it, I'm talking about?  I'm talking about rules which put restriction on our mind. Rules which force us to focus too much on 'playing safe'. Still confused? Ok. Lets make it simple.

If you want to succeed, if you want to progress in life, stop wasting your days searching for security and start spending your time pursuing opportunity. Sure, you are likely to meet lot of failures, but failure is nothing more than learning how to win.  You can choose to sit on sea shore in complete safety or you can take chances, dive it to the sea and look for gems waiting for a person of true courage. Time to take risks is now. Go out try new things, learn new things even if you have to risk losing it all. If you have to go Broke, its better to be at early age. You will still have enough time to recover! Remember nothing great could ever be achieved by 'playing it safe'.  In the words of Sophocles, "Fortune is not on the side of the faint-hearted."
So go out break rules of thinking and progress in life.

Be Greedy!

I wish that age old saying "Don't be Greedy" be replaced with "Be Greedy!"  I owe this to great writer Robert Kiyosaki and his book "Rich Dad Poor Dad".
Because of this "Don't be greedy" philosophy, we all feel guilty for our greed.  However nothing can be achieved without a little bit of greed.  We progress because we all desire something better in life.  New inventions are made because be desire something better.  We work hard because we want something extra.  Greed is better than the feeing of guilt.  Feeling of guilt makes us feel bad about ourself which robs our spirit  while greed pushes us to work and results in progress. So be a bit greedy about everything in life! Too much greed, however, is bad as excess of everything is bad.

How To Attract Money!

We all need money! And we all work harder and harder to earn it. Yet at time we find that we are not getting enough. There is a very simple solution to this, though we all find it hard to believe. Its called POWER OF GIVING. I'm sorry for limiting it to only money in title. It actually works on virtually everything. Whatever you may feel short of just give it first and see magic unfold! Just for example- if you are feeling that people are not smiling at you, start smiling yourself and see environment change around you. I know most of you experienced this at some point or other in your life and now you are saying that it does not work on money!

Believe me it equally works not only on money but love, friendship, happiness as well. Give whatever you want and see the same rolling in to your life in plenty! Some time you may not get enough in return. It mostly happens when your concentration was on receiving while giving. Just remember to concentrate on the joy of giving while giving! The magic will unfold in your life.

Be Happy That You Have Problems In Life!

Strange! Yes it appears to be strange at first glance.  But have a deep thought and you will agree with the relevance of this statement.  We all have problems of varying degree in life. Problems keep us active.  They force us to think and act.  Problems are the sole cause of all kind of innovation in this world.  The only person who do not have any problem is in grave!  Problems are actually a sign of life. So be happy that you have problems . It only means that you are alive!

A small story!

This a story of four persons, SomebodyAnybody, Everybody and Nobody.

Once SOMEBODY was required to do an urgent piece of work.
EVERYBODY was of the opinion that ANYBODY can do the job.
But it was finally great NOBODY who did the job!

What does it mean? Make your own deduction!

Never Shall Lose Those Who Do Not Ever Give Up Trying

(Translated version of "Koshish Karne Walon Ki Kabhi Har Nahi Hoti by Harivansh Rai Bachchan ")
A Ferry worried of waves cannot cross river
never shall lose those who do not ever give up trying.
Little Ant moving with the grain, climbs wall, falls hundred times.
Confidence of mind fills her veins with courage, climbing and falling does not hurt.
Her efforts are not wasted all the time,
never shall lose those who do not ever give up trying.
Diver dives in to sea, comes back empty handed again and again.
Pearls are not easily found in the sea, his confidence doubles in this astonishment.
His fists are not empty every time
never shall lose those who do not ever give up trying.
Failure is a challenge, accept it, think what is lacking and improve.
Forgo peaceful sleep till you succeed, do not run away from struggles.
Without doing some great deed no one is hailed,
never shall lose those who do not ever give up trying.

When Everything Seems to Have Lost, Remember Future Remains!

This phrase was coined by one of my childhood friend a few years back.  That time I did not really understood its meaning. But today I'm just amazed with its depth!  In last article I talked about time as our most precious commodity. One of the most striking feature of this commodity (time) is that we cant spend it in advance (unlike most of other commodities). No matter how badly we utilised our time in past, our next lot comes intact! So we need not to worry about our past actions and can always start using our time wisely.

So next time when everything appears to have lost to you, remember future remains!

How Do You Spend Your Most Precious Commodity

Time is our most precious commodity and yet most of us live our life as if we have all the time in world. Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as as inexhaustible well. Yet every thing happens only certain time. We don't know how many time we will be able to see sunrise in our life! Yet it all seems limitless.

Time is the greatest leveler, we all have 24 hrs in a day. We must use our time wisely. The real secret is knowing what things need to be done and what left undone. We shall commit ourself to managing our time more effectively. Develop a keen awareness about how important out time really is. Don't let people waste this most precious commodity and invest it only in those activities that truly count.

"If only.."

This is the key phrase to failure- "if only".  Every time we fail, we utter "if only". If only this had not happened! if only I had done differently.  If only he helped me. If only....if only and so on.

We are in habit of putting too much mental concentration on "if only".  Change this key word from your mental setup.  This will help in overcoming failure thinking.  Just replace this "if only" with a new phrase "next time.." and see results for yourself.  Next time you fail, instead of using "if only.." try using "next time.."!  Good luck.

Increase Your Self Worth

We are living in a new world.  A world full of opportunities. We don't get paid according to hard work we put in (hard work is very important though).  We often wonder how a person less talented than us gets better paid! The monetary reward we get is not determined by how hard we work but by how much value we add to our organisation.  This is why a person having specialised knowledge is always paid more than a normal worker.

So to be paid more we must be able to add more value.  The key is to increase your self worth.  So we need to become more valuable person. Acquire skills that are unique.  Read books which are unique . Start thinking differently.  We cant get more simply by remaining the person we are.  To get more, we need to become more. So start adding to self wotrh today!

Fake it till you make it!

This time I'm not going to share a story but a "Magic Mantra".  This mantra is capable of bringing your all dreams come true! "FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT".  Yes, this is great mantra. Most management Guru will agree that our mind is capable of  bringing anything into reality.  So if you want to change your personality, start behaving like a person you want to become (Fake it till you make it).  And soon you will find your personality transformed. Give it a try it works!

All is Not Lost!

A 10-year-old boy decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident. The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move. "Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?" "This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the sensei replied. Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals. This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the sensei intervened.

"No," the sensei insisted, "Let him continue." Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament.

He was the champion. On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed every
move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind. "Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?" "You won for two reasons," the sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm." The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.

"Sometimes we feel that we have certain weaknesses and we blame god, the circumstances and our self for it but we never know that our weakness can become our strength one day. Each of us is special and important, so never think you have any weakness, never think of pride or pain, just live your life to its fullest and extract the best out of it!

Convert your weakness into your biggest strength

कोशिश करने वालों की कभी हर नहीं होती! (translated version also posted)
